I was in a shopping district in Osaka, Japan using a mall’s public toilet, when the flush failed to run automatically. I searched for a manual flush but failed to see one except for a suspicious looking red button attached in the wall. There was a notice written next to the button but it was written in Japanese which I still couldn’t read during that time. Having no other alternative, I decided to give the red button a push and to my horror, it turned out that it wasn’t a flush but an emergency alarm.
I wished I could vanish to the face of the earth back then when the mall security went to the location and I was there not knowing how to explain the situation due to the language barrier.
How about you? What was your embarrassing travel moment?
